It was back in March 2020, when Let’s Hog Roast were asked to cater our very first hog roast event, was for 300 hungry construction site workers at the new Amazon depot in Bowburn, County Durham.
As we only had one hog roast machine at the time , we hastily had to buy another one in order to cook the two whole pigs that would be needed for the event .
As was the beginning of Covid times, we had our eyes peeled on the television as it was looking like the whole country would be going into lockdown, but luckily we was given the all clear and the event was to go ahead.
The day before the event , we was to collect two locally sourced pigs from our butcher and these were cooked slowly for 12 hours overnight , and looked absolutely sublime the next morning when we transported them to the building site.
We then set up our two gazebos and serving tables ready for service at 11am promt.
Service then begun , and our smart uniformed chefs and staff began serving delicious pulled pork rolls , with home made sage and onion stuffing and gravy along with lashings of bramley apple sauce and crispy crackling .
And to the delight of the organisers who booked the event and construction staff the event went down a storm and we were very happy to receive so many compliments on the food .
After everyone had been well fed , the organisers thanked us and looked forward to a future booking. We then cleared everything away and left the area as we found it , and upon arriving back at base the work started again with our favourite part (not) , the washing up ha ha, oh well it’s all in a days work for busy event and corporate caterers .
Sadly , only a week later the whole country went into lock down , and the rest is history . Fortunately for us we managed to diversify our business and came out all the stronger when normality gradually came back .
